Cattle Working Equipment FAQs

What equipment is needed for a complete cattle working system?

A complete cattle working system normally uses holding or sorting pens, a crowding tub, a cattle alley, and a squeeze chute. The exact layout depends on your available space, herd size, and how cattle need to move through the facility.

Can I add cattle working equipment to my existing pens?

Yes. If your existing pens already provide enough gathering and sorting space, you can add a crowding tub, alley, and squeeze chute to create an organized path for processing cattle.

What is the difference between a cattle loading pen and a working pen?

A loading pen provides a controlled area for gathering, sorting, and directing cattle toward a load-out point. A larger working pen provides additional divided areas for holding and sorting cattle and may also include a tub, alley, and squeeze chute.

Should I choose PHT or PBT Series panels?

PHT Series panels provide a heavy-duty galvanized option for cattle facilities. PBT Series panels use larger 2-inch square tubing and are our strongest, extreme-duty panel option. Both are available in many complete cattle working pen packages.

Can Red River Arenas help me choose a layout?

Yes. Call 1-800-343-1026 to discuss your existing facilities, available space, herd size, and cattle-handling needs. Our team can help you compare individual equipment and complete package layouts.
